Golf GTI Excessive

posted by Surrey admin in Uncategorized

Revealed back at the Wörthersee Show in Austria earlier this year, Volkswagen’s latest GTI concept is the Golf GTI Excessive, an updated version of the iconic GTI line.  The new car is “formed from a series of small but effective modifications to the vehicle’s running gear to create a sharper, more focussed iteration of the iconic GTI.” Aesthetic additions for the GTI Excessive include a deep front splitter and a pair of revised airdams either side of the front grille.  There’s also set of LED rear lights and, inside the car, redesigned bucket seats with integrated headrests finished in black and red, along with brushed aluminium and gloss black trim.

Autocar associate editor Hilton Holloway championed the car, saying: “The Range Rover defined a new type of luxury.”

After several years of bad news, it is a relief to see the car industry starting to get back on its feet again.  Mercedes Benz is the latest carmaker to announce more positive results with the indication that the company is set to meet its 2013 goals.  Executives at the company feel that Mercedes Benz is on track to meet its growth targets as long as the world economy remains stable: “from today’s perspective, assuming there is no further downturn of the world economy, we expect Mercedes-Benz Cars to achieve its targeted return on sales of ten per cent in the second half of 2012 and to maintain it as of full-year 2013.”

Land Rover Sales Figures

2010 seems to have been a bumper year for car manufacturers and Land Rover is no different, with the company recording its best ever month of sales in March. The figures were up 67% on the same month last year selling over 11,300 vehicles and recording the highest sales for any month in the company’s 62-year history.  The company has been steadily improving since the beginning of the year and this figure will mark a real high for the carmaker in the UK which is its biggest market.  Land Rover has also had a good strong showing across Europe and emerging markets like China.
